I don't see a general entry in the database for Gasteraloes, despite the many individuals which do appear. Did I miss something?

https://garden.org/search/inde...

Would it be possible to create a generic entry for xGasteraloes so that pictures of unidentified hybrids of this parentage can be deposited there? I don't think it's necessary to link up the generic entry as a parent plant, unless you so choose. The parentage of xGasteraloes (in case that matters) is Gasteria crossed with Aloe. I can adjust the details of the entry down the road.

Thank You!

It didn't come up in your search, but it does exist.

In case you're wondering why it didn't come up in your search, it's because Gasteraloe is not listed as a common name in this entry. Your search only picked up the entries that have "Gasteraloe" (without the "X") in the name.

Okay, that makes sense. But now I am seeing the parentage of that "Lizard Tail"/"Pearl Aloe" plant (your link above) is a specific aloe crossed with Gasteria. Which would make sense given the photos, which look a lot like Aloe aristata (only). Does that make this not a generic entry? I'm guessing a new one might be needed anyway.

For comparison, here is the Gasteraloe (different aloe parent for sure) in question.

I've corrected the parentage line. I suspect someone copied the earlier parentage data from a site referring to a specific cultivar.

Perfect. I will go ahead and propose the common name Gasteraloe, for improved searchability, and let the higher powers decide whether that's appropriate.

Speaking as one of the higher powers, I've approved your proposal and I regret not taking care of that while I was doing my previous correction. Smiling

I wonder if my image below is in the incorrect database entry? It sure looks a lot like

It could be. I don't know. My experience is limited. Those two plants definitely share at least one parent (Aloe aristata) but I couldn't really speculate about the other.

LOL, don't mind me. My above photo is Lace Aloe (Aristaloe aristata) I do recall that name and yep, I have photos at that database entry. Rolling on the floor laughing
