Seems to me that the original Itoh peonies were a breakthrough because they were yellow,

Before that, most of the "yellow" herbaceous peonies tended to be white.

This is kind of the inverse of Daylilies that claim to be white, but are yellow:)

Now, we have a plethora of yellow Itoh peonies.

Yellow is good!

I have found that yellow itoh peonies don't make good cut flowers. I hope the herbaceous will last longer. I think there is a good chance that this is so because the Peonyshop in Europe sells alot of Lemon Chiffon as cut flowers. In spite of this, i am getting two more yellow itohs this fall, Callie's Memory and Scrumdiddlyumptious.

Gorgeous photos, LG! I have 3 yellow Itohs plus Sunny Girl and Prairie Moon. Yellow definitely adds a lot to the garden colors!

Probably I am the only who prefer herbaceous yellow and tree yellow much more than Itoh yellow.
Many Itoh yellows are too similar to each other, and are monotonous to me.

I agree LIttleBin. I have begun to focus on simple singles or Japanese forms of various colors. I have enough yellow to keep me happy in GT, LC, BC. Hard to tell them apart unless you are really into morphology.

Got that one 2 years ago, Jerry. Lost the buds last spring to our end of May snowstorm....hopefully next spring will be better. HATE it when the weather warms, everything starts growing like crazy then blizzards....

A Canada friend has yellow Crown. It is very beautiful and looks like a tree peony. It is the first double Itoh and very special. However, it is easy to flop.

The disappointing "Sonoma Halo" at Adelman Peony Gardens.
The flowers are very flat and very shrinking. Probably expensive doesn't mean good.

Every peony can have a bad showing. Adelmans won best in show awards with Halo in 2014 and 2016, once for best yellow lutea hybrid then for best Itoh.

Having seen Sonoma Halo in person as well, it is stunning. APS Best of Show doesn't happen for the mediocre. Maybe it was a bad year Littlebin, as Liz pointed out.

How I do love the true yellows. The ITOH yellows haven't tired me out either. I find beauty in them every season. And they never fail to surprise at least one garden onlooker, "there are yellow peonies? I never knew that" Hilarious!

I don't find them to be good cut flowers either. The yellow ITOHs fall apart very soon in a vase, but in the garden they do amazingly well. Haven't tried any other ITOH as a cut flower.

Nice pictures LG
