Can anyone help me identify dragon fruit plants themselves before they fruit.

If you want to identify different varieties of dragonfruit this way, that seems quite hard to me (basically the domain of experts). If you want to identify dragonfruit cacti vs. other cacti, the answer is relatively easy and you can get most of the way there by looking for 3-sided stems.

I bought 4 varieties but really can't tell the difference. I realize the yellow since its truly different. I heard the red is darker green, white has distinctive thorns. jus need verification

We ate a super delicious yellow variety a couple of years ago in Ecuador. Perhaps these pics help.
