I went with the "and" entry to upload pics of a plant spotted at Huntington Museum of Art.


On this page it is listed as 'Strawberries and Cream' AKA 'Strawberry Cream.' If that is true, the other version of the cultivar name could be added to the entry.

I could not find a patent for either version but I am not confident in my search skills in these matters.

Interesting, I have a feeling they are one and the same although one lists the Originator as Bernard York, while the other lists the Originator as Merv Cox.

Tiffany, it's more common than you think. I can think of several roses and columbines with an ampersand in their cultivar names.

The two begonias in our database are two different plants. They're of different types and they list different hybridizers.

TY, Zuzu! Much appreciated. And yes, I forgot to paste a link. TY for noticing. Can't seem to find it again, a blog written by someone who seemed knowledgeable. One never knows with sources like that without further confirmation.

The question may be a moot point, at least as far as it relates to a plant that I saw and photographed at Huntington Museum of Art conservatory with the label seen in the pic above, if it is neither of the cultivars mentioned and showing in the link to a search in my opening post.

Thank you, Tiffany. The Plant Lust link offered enough evidence for me to include Strawberry Cream as an also-sold-as name in the 'Strawberries and Cream' entry. It's a tuberous begonia and the other one (Strawberries & Cream) isn't, so I feel certain that it has been added to the correct entry.

I am always so impressed with the "service" here when I need help, which I so often do. TYVM, again! Much appreciate the help avoiding misrepresentation in the name of sharing a gorgeous plant! Begonias always make me go weak in the knees.
