I have five unidentified Begonia rex cultivars that I rescued from the clearance bin at Lowe's a few months back. I've nursed them back to health - but call me neurotic, I really like to know what I'm growing. I'll award an acorn to anybody who makes the first positive ID on each of these - just state which number it is and link to the plant so I can confirm! Smiling Then I'll stick some popsicle sticks in them to memorize the names - hah! Thanks all!

Thanks to anybody who can help me settle my neuroses on nomenclature! And nota bene: these photos are mobile phone shots; most of the actual plants are more colorful and vibrant than depicted.

Yep, and they came with useful little plant tags that merely said (with some cutesy design) - "Hi! My name is Begonia Rex!" or some such malarkey, not taking into account that there are about a thousand different cultivars identified for Begonia Rex...

Yes, but if they came from Costa Farms, it should be easy to match yours to the few pics there. They do not have a wide selection. There would be no need to consider names that are not part of their lineup if they are the supplier.

Justin Hancock is their publicity person. If you send your pics to him, he will gladly help you match them to their names. He is easy to contact on CF's FB page.

Thank You!

Awesome! Thanks for the help! I'll see if I can't get some outside assistance - the ones pictured on the website were the "expensive" ones at Lowe's, not the clearance ones. I bought the clearance ones. I felt bad for them - like puppies at the shelter! Plus, they were a third the cost of an equally sized "exotic" one, and once nursed back to health, are quite lovely.

Happy to try to help your investigation. The link I put above should have a pic of each cultivar that CF supplies to stores. Putting them on clearance, based on the amount of time that they have been at the store, or because the appearance of some individuals starts to look distressed, is something the store does, not the supplier. Any plant could theoretically be on clearance.
