I recently moved to a new home and I have a Japanese Maple Bush of an unknown variety in my front yard.and was hoping it will eventually turn the red color they are known for. It has a few reddish branches but its foliage is mostly green.

Can someone familiar with these bushes tell me if the bush will eventually turn reddish or if these bushes need any special care.
Thanks for you help

There are so many varieties of Japanese maples, it will be hard to tell unless you know the actual cultivar. Best thing is to just wait and see. In my experience, most J. maples provide 3 seasons of color - early spring, mid summer, and fall. Often the change is dramatic, other times it is more subtle. I have several in my yard, and some turn color much later than others, so hang in there. Good luck, hope you have a pretty one.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
