So the story here is pretty simple. I have a mischievous Italian Greyhound who gets into any and everything he can. This week it was my Ponytail Palm. I really would just like to know if its a goner or if I should wait for its recovery abilities to kick in? Before the massacre it was what I believe to be a healthy plant. The core of the plant is pretty much gone. Thank you for the help in advance.

Don't give up hope. It should branch below the damage.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
