I'd love to grow my fiddle leaf in a planter alongside my fence. I'm 9b. Is there annnnyyy chance I can grow it? If not, are there any similar looking plants that would provide that same type of aesthetic?

Tim - Ficus lyratas are listed as hardy in Zones 10-12, so you are right over the edge. It might need a little extra protection when temps drop below freezing, but it will probably be okay unless you get some unusually cold weather.
