We finally had some cooler weather move in. I thought 'Nosferatu' was going to be the last named variety to bloom in my garden, but I was surprised with a new scape and buds from 'Grand Palais' that I received from Kabby and it will be the last to bloom. Nosferatu had it's last bloom today and there are several more buds left on 'Grand Palais' if the weather will stay warm for a little while longer so the buds can have time to open.
'Nosferatu' this is the last bloom on this plant.

'Grand Palais': this will be the last named variety in the garden to bloom and it has a few more buds left on it.

I was hoping to get a picture of There's A Place and even though we have had uncooperative weather the past couple of days, here it is and surprise!! It's a poly. I had to take the picture in a vase outside on our back porch because yesterday, when it was supposed to open outside, we had high winds that would have ripped it up and we had it covered to prevent that, plus the cold front came in and dropped the temp way down, which also impeded opening. Last night I brought it inside and it did open today.

There's A Place

Also last blooms on Butterfly Season, Sweet Seneca Cameo and Lemonberry Truffle which produced two huge doubles--really went out with a bang.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! to all and big thanks to Karen for the acorn. Let me just add, I found a bloom on Happy Returns after I did this post. We will probably have a hard freeze tonight so I guess any scapes out there will die with the exception of There's A Place which is covered. It has several buds left so who knows? We might get a few more flowers and naturally I will put them on this thread if it happens.

The last daylily to bloom in my garden for 2017 is Indian Giver, looking a little pathetic in the rain, with its washed-out spots:

Yesterday was the last daylily bloom in my garden, but with the cool temps and the hard rain it was just barely opened, it was on 'Grand Palais'.

Here are a couple from last Friday.

First up is Liz Salter's Tropical Tangerine, an "always nice" tet pony from 1986.

I still have scapes emerging around the yard. Curt's 'Notify Ground Crew' was invaded by tree roots this year, and the third-year clump hardly bloomed at all, but as soon as the weather cooled a bit, it started scaping, and now there are six, ranging from just emerging to ready to bloom. They're going to top out at about 32". Because of its vintage form and true nocturnal habit, it doesn't care how cool the nights are. In fact, cool weather enhances its garden value, since the flowers last longer into the next day.
