Hi all I bought Lavender angustofolia and planted it in container this spring The growth is nice but now I notice the lower part is woody Is this normal?

It's a young plant What do I do to fix it
I pruned it and put some bone meal and compost Hope I did the right thing

Its barking, making bark, part of its natural growth. After blooms die back, trim back to desired height, 3 or 4 inches, if desired. It will grow back.
