I'm doing a project for Christmas presents. I'm going to draw or frame a photograph of plants that have similar names to some of my loved ones. I believe I only need the common name and the scientific name and then I can do the rest of the research myself.
I need plant names similar to the names below.
Angelina
Alyssa
Joshua
Elizabeth “Lizzy”
So far the first three I seem to have found but I want to be sure. It's Elizabeth that I can't find any match for.

Thanks,

Ryan Larsen

I'm guessing the other names are somewhat obvious?
You have all given me some great ideas.

Thanks

Since you said the names could be similar if not the same...for Angelina you might use Angelonia:
Angelonia (Angelonia angustifolia)

For the name Alyssa there are a ton to select from:

Here is a list for Joshua:

Hope this helps and good luck with your project. What a nice idea. Thumbs up

Google has been useless in this search. Thank you all.
I thought I was going to have to go with Joshua Tree for Joshua.

If anyone still has some great ideas please add them.

Thanks,

Ryan.

There is also a daylily called Sandra Elizabeth. To me, it kind of reminds me of when an older adult, like a parent brings out a child's middle name, along with the first name. I think it can also have meaning to bright and alluring, because the flower itself is so beautiful and stands out tall and proud among others.

Thanks Lin for sharing your Sandra Elizabeth Daylily photos. Were you confused about which Sandra Elizabeth Daylily I was talking about? If you were, I was referring to the bright yellow ones. I am shocked that there is another Sandra Elizabeth. I love the purple-ish color and the yellow/green throat. Smiling

@SonoveShakespeare/Ian, those aren't actually my photos. they are from the garden.org plant database where additional images of each particular Daylily can be viewed:

Ryan, you mentioned that a normal internet search didn't help all that much. You might try searching on this site. Open Plants Database (gray tool bar above) then 'search by name' and enter whatever you want. For example, if you just enter Lizzy you will get all sorts of hits, and can quickly see which entries have photographs associated with them.
