Like Japanese maples, there are just too many crosses to ID from a seedling. Did you start these from seed? If so, do you know what your seed strain was? Perhaps someone has a way to tell one from the other, but it's not me. Or maybe when they are larger (only 2 true leaves thus far) there will be some identifying characteristic. Shrug.

Here is a diagram with the characteristics of the leaves on mature plants. I've never grown it so can't help you any further.

They look a bit dry. Can you add a humidity dome of some kind?

After the plants develop the next set of true leaves it might be easier to make an identification.

By the way, isn't the limit 6 plants grown at a time in your state?

The Nevada law says you can grow 12 plants at a time but only 6 can be flowering at any one time. Also, you can't grow if you live within 25 miles of a dispensary. But, as you also have to grow your plants in a locked enclosure that can't be seen from the street, who will ever know? Smiling

As a garden site, we should focus on how to nurture plants and perhaps leave legal issues alone. I experiment with cannabis and other herbs for various health reasons, and sometimes share those in the comment section, with the caveat that this 'may' help rather than 'this is a true fact' approach. I hope that is acceptable to our general membership. For those growing cannabis for recreational purposes, I am not at all opposed to sharing those experiences as well. There are lots of plants with mild to acute psychotropic properties, more info is better than less in my view.

Are you in Las Vegas?
Syria?

As Deb stated in the first response..... These are seedlings.... Can't tell much until the plants gain some size.

After a while, there's gonna be some easily identifiable differences like some varieties have wide leaves, others have narrow leaves....

And... I'm sure that you can find other distinguishing differences by searching the Internet....

All I can tell you about your seedlings... Yes... Almost certainly cannabis.

And... it's very easy to grow.
Probably not the best plant to be growing for class due to its extreme ease of growth.... They call it "weed" for a reason....

If you are truly trying to earn a scholarship, there are a few things you need to think about:

Your English is not ESL, its slang. If you can want to impress your professor, start by speaking/writing correct grammar. I know professors and future employers that would not read your submissions - they would land in the trash without consideration.

Choose a project that will impress because of its uniqueness. So far, I have seen nothing that will impress anyone.

There is nothing new you can discover/learn from growing Cannabis. In fact, Cannabis growers are leading the charge in innovated growing techiniques for the entire horticultural industry.

I don't really care if you want to grow Cannabis and you think that perhaps we can answer some of your questions but please be honest and up front with us.

I respectfully suggest we put judgments aside and simply answer this person's horticultural questions. It is not helpful to jump to conclusions that may or may not be based on fact. The initial question is whether the cannabis seedlings are of a sativa or indica strain. I believe the answer has been provided - wait until it grows a bit and compare the leaves to various on-line visual resources.

Daisy, I was personally rather surprised by your statement, "There is nothing new you can discover/learn from growing cannabis." Say what? One can always learn new things, and (in my opinion) this particular plant has a huge amount of medicinal properties as yet untapped.

Humankind. Be both.

Bonehead,

Yes, the question has been answered. I was giving Weeder some advice on how to actually earn that scholarship. I'm sorry you felt I was being unkind but I was much kinder than Weeder's college professors will ever be.
