I bought several pepper plants in Sept at a local garden center. All of the plants were infected with an insect that is crawling in lines on the leaves. A man that worked at the garden said that they are "Miners". I have taken his advice and bought a product treatment made by Bayer, that I mixed according to directions in a gallon bottle, and sprayed on the plants. It hasn't helped. Can you help? It is on the Bell Peppers and the Jalapeno's. The plants looked like that are shriveling up and losing leaves. I tried removed infected leaves but lost the battle.

Thanks

I have had success with insecticidal soap with leaf miners.

Soap should work, but it would only kill the adults...not the miners, so you need to repeat until the next generation has hatched and morphed into adults. I have used it on my citrus trees, and it kills the mealies and scale, but I can't spray often enough to eradicate the leaf miners. If you only have a few plants you might be successful with soap.
