I have three cactuses, but only two are having issues. The stem is shriveling and thinning and becoming almost transparent. These two cactuses were in The same pot at one point and we’re doing really well but my cat knocked them over so I repotted them into separate pots. They both have while draining soil and draining pots. My other cactus is healthy as ever and is having no problems. They’re in the sun all day but since it’s getting cold I only water in about once every two weeks. They used to be by a window that was cracked and cold air would come in at night but that is close now and they’re away from it . Please help

Welcome!

The Hylocereus (the bottom part) is rotting from the roots up. This could be caused by overwatering. The pots look HUGE and the soil appears to be very wet. Plants this size should be in a pot no larger than about 3 inchess across.

How long have you had your little Moon Cactus? Is the third cactus the same kind?

Moon Cactus, by their very nature, are living on borrowed time, no matter how well you take care of them. If you have had them for two years, consider yourself a good plant parent.

Moon Cactus are two cactus varieties grafted into one plant. The bottom part (Hylocereus) is supporting both itself and the colorful ball on top (Gymnocalcium). Its a parasitic relationship with no chance of either partner surviving.

Sorry! Sad

The third cactus is the same kind, in the same pot and soil and watered the same amount. The pots aren’t actually that big, and i had just watered it in the picture. Those two did really well when they were potted together.
