I would like to see pictures of your cactus/succulent indoor area please, and whether it is a permanent area for them or only indoors during the cold weather.

My plants live year round in front of a SW facing window and get afternoon sun until sunset. They get water every 3 weeks (Sans at top), every 2 weeks (next two larger plants), every week (hairy Echeveria in front), or twice a week (baby seedlings).

Here is my newly created small area where I have my indoor plants. It is actually behind a loveseat to make it more difficult for the g'baby to walk up and try to touch the cacti. My apartment only has one window (it also has a glass patio door but that is not a good place for plants for several reasons) so as you can see I've reached my plant limit because there is no more room.

Your indoor cacti/succulent spaces look great everybody! I still have mine everywhere. I'll take some pics when they are more centralized. Blinking

Now I see how you grow them in your gloomy WA light. All of those grow lights must help a lot. Where do you get those fixtures, and what bulb do you use in them, Greg?

They are just clamp lamps I got mine locally but they are available on Amazon
Bulbs are compact florescent lights... here is the box label probably also available on Amazon

Thank you, very helpful. I think I could use some of those and they won't break the bank. I bought fancy Mars-Hydro LED lights once, and won't get any more even though they are wonderful. They are the type of light that can bring law enforcement to the door, at least in NM!

Karen when I bought my first lamps I bought maybe 6 at once, and yes the store acted like I was purchasing for pot plants!! They kept saying 'succulents right' in a long drawn out way - or referring to 'your succulents' Rolling on the floor laughing
I tip my hat to you.

I imagine it won't be too many years before it's legal everywhere. We have a new dispensary going in our little burg right now, but it's just for medical purposes. nodding

After it is legal one would think that it would be mostly grown outdoors, hopefully the indoor farmer wannabes will use the space for cacti and succulents once they can make their herbal purchases at Walmart.

Hilarious! you are right that currently it is grown indoors, most usually... And uses so much resources Sad But even succulents use light and fans...I keep mine on for 10 hours and often feel guilty even though I'm using florescent which uses less energy! It'll be good once pot can be grown outdoors. Thumbs up

I see loppers next to the bottom shelf, Greg. What do you have by way of succulents that need that scale of pruning? Confused

I never even thought to feel guilty. I'm paying for my energy use, and I too use fluorescents. I do not carelessly waste energy, but the lights are used to help my small cactus/succulent collection that brings me a lot of happiness.

These are under 2 4ft' fixtures. One fluorescent, the other LED. I'm in the gradual process of replacing all my FLs with LEDs.
I have over 30 fixtures in my grow room. They stay on 24/7 for the winter. No apologies/no guilt. Just indoor paradise.

Very nice, Kyle. Show us more of your plants, please. I see you have some cryptanthus. Any hints on making them happy?
