I was reading how to propagate this beautiful plant . Im struggling deciding what stems I should cut.
I read 2 to 5 inch pieces. Which is a little different mostly I hear no less than 4 inchs. Butit also read to use older stems. The problem is the older stems are the very thick n if i messed with those main stems it leave big section open on the bush. So the smaller stem are newer.. so since this is the first or 2 nd bush I've tried propagating I thought I'd get some advice. I took some pictures so you can see what Im working with.

In this first pic, there is a brand new stem coming out the ground.. would that not be a good choice for propagation?

Some of the other picks show smaller stems that had just grow this year thats grown off those larger main stems I'm not crazy about messing with.
So if any would know more about this plant that may help me propagate this Id appreciate some input I'm nervous about just cutting those larger stems. It would leave the plant looking odd until sping.
Thanks for reading my post.

I haven't done this for quite a few years but...

The skinny side shoots work best and the cuttings should be 3 or 4 inches long. Leave only 4 or 5 leaves per cutting. Use rooting hormone. Bottom heat and tented.

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I needed to know. The
side shoots are mostly newer stems that are coming off those larger stems There are so many new shoots this year and there 2 different colors of pink. Its so pretty. Im going to grow 2 for my mother in law.
Thanks a million my friend. Happy gardening! Group hug Group hug
