I thought I would start a thread listing irises wanted by forum particpants that are rare, hard to find, and no longer offered by commercial vendors. That way we have an accessible list when you visit a local iris sale or find an obscure source and want to assist a fellow enabler! If you're looking for a certain rare variety or 10, respond to the thread and I will continually update this original post to maintain a current list. Once you've acquired a variety on your list, please respond so I can remove the variety. I'm open to suggestions on how to manage/improve this list too. I will start with a couple that have been on my list a loooong time. SDB Priwall. Used to be offered here but can't find it anymore. SDB Robin's Nest. A Carol Coleman iris. Due to health issues another vendor is taking her irises but this one has not been available for a few years. Baby Barn Owl. Not a U S iris but you never know when it will show up Scott it may be more helpful if I leave off the commentary. If so I will go back and edit. Let me know how to help make this thread productive. ![]() My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts. |

I've not seen enough irises to know which ones are rare but just wanted to say that I plan to volunteer for the Elmohr iris sale going on next July, I'll keep an eye out for any that make this list. There are gardeners in that group that have been iris collectors for several decades, might be able to find a few. Also plan to visit the 3 big growers I've found online in CO next April/May and will keep an eye out there as well. LizB |

I've had this iris on my want list for a couple of years: not that old of an iris, but a most wanted one. Country Delight Iris had it, now I'm just hoping they reopen next year. If anyone has it and wants to trade (or sell) please contact me. ![]() |

I really, really, reeeel-ly want this Iris. One of the Pickle Barrel folks thinks they have it, but they have to wait for bloom confirmation. Soooo... Moderation in all things…except chocolate, coffee...and potato chips. |

Barbara and Debra, I've added Sirocco Mist and Moby Dick to the list. I hope you (or someone else) can find them! “A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it tends otherwise.” -Aldo Leopold |

Scott - you will be able to find Purissima and Snow Flurry through Superstition Iris. They have carried both for awhile and they say they will be available again in 2018. Remember to order early if you really want the iris before it gets sold out! I would love to get Prairie Spirit and Hummingbird's Blessing. Both are Carol Coleman dwarfs. I had them on order with her, but sadly she has had a stroke and had to cancel all orders. Supposedly Rainbow will have them, or at least Kelly has all her iris and seedlings, but Hummingbird has never been available. Prairie Spirit is gorgeous so would love this one. I would also like to find Burseen's Natty Attire. My road calls me, lures me west, east, south & north; most roads lead men homewards, my road leads me forth. - John Masefield |

That's great news Leslie! @evelyninthegarden Leslie, do you know what is the best way to order from Superstition if someone does not use Facebook? “A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. Thanks Rob. Their site was 'Iris on Pond' I think and both her and husband Ken worked in the irises. They used to sell but in the last few years have offered their irises through other vendors. My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts. |

Scott, I think Dirt answered it well. To order from Superstition you need to order their catalogue No orders are placed through Facebook. But do ask for a catalogue early so you can get the pre-catalogue iris list. All orders must be mailed in. All this is really worth it. They send amazing healthy rhizomes.
