I just got a seed-grown Showy Medinilla (Medinilla magnifica) from Logees. I've been ogling it for some time and it is just what I "need" to perk me up now the weather is gloomy. It is an epiphyte from the Philippines. Anyone ever try this? I could use some advice!

I've never grown Pink Lantern (Medinilla magnifica) but I had Chandelier Tree (Medinilla cumingii) growing in a container for many years. Medinilla prefer bright light but no direct sun and they enjoy high humidity. I'd cut back on watering during the winter months.

Thanks Lin- I think I will use regular potting soil with a lot of pumice mixed in, probably a clay pot to help it get air

Lucky you Mary! I have been looking for that plant too! Would love to try that! I tried to see before if I can see one in situ when I went back home, but did not have time to visit the garden nurseries. Thanks for showing the link where you got it! Big Grin But maybe I will wait till Spring, hopefully that website still carries it!
