While moving my plants in this past weekend, I encountered this little guy.

He was 5/8" long and perched on a piece of pinestraw. We had some strong winds and I wondered if it blew him down from one of the tall pines.

Does anyone recognize him?

What will this caterpillar grow up to be?

Be content moving inch by inch because, by days end, the inches, will add up to feet and yards.

Fulfilling ambitious objectives is usually done one step at a time.

It looks like a Spiny Oak Slug caterpillar, Euclea delphinii.

That appears to be it!!! The cool thing is I've also seen many of those moths this summer as well. Thank you Celia. I appreciate your looking and posting. Thumbs up

Hmm, that looks pretty close to what I found crawling on the rim of one of my cactus pots this morning.

That sure does resemble it. I wonder if male/female are different. Let me edit to say I wonder if they are marked or colored different.

Good question, I looked up it's locations and it doesn't appear to be here in Central Texas - http://mothphotographersgroup....

I was checking that other one and thought it looked like an Io moth.
