My question about hosta seeds is this. When I open the pods to let the seeds come out most of the flakes are in a long oval shape. But some of the black flakes are in smaller pieces. Are the small pieces going to germinate or do I throw them away and keep just the longer pieces? Thank you

I don't think size is the imporatant thing here. The seeds that are whole and viable will grow no matter the size. Plant everything that looks like a complete seed. If in doubt, plant those too.
