This did not required a lot of research on my part, but the more I looked, the more I became even more confused. As far as I can tell, it's a black clumping bamboo with a max height of less than 15 feet. Some of the larger canes on the west side of this grove? had to be removed for a shop were probably 1-1/2 inches in diameter. I don't think this bamboo received sufficient water so perhaps it could/would grow larger when properly irrigated? I found the following info. on BambooGarden.com.

"Is there a black cold hardy clumping bamboo?

There are several bamboo that have dark canes and are clumping that are cold-hardy, but they don’t get very big. These are Fargesia ‘Jiuzhaigou’ IV, F. nitida, and Chusquea culeou ‘Cana Prieta’. If you want large diameter, black canes in a cooler climate, the only option is Phyllostachys nigra which is a runner.."

Black Bamboo is a clumping bamboo that is cold hardy - I brought some with me from California and its doing great. The second bamboo in your photos is Golden Bamboo, a runner.

All the same bamboo Daisyl. That was just a close up of the leaves. Now that I look closely at that photo, you can see some black on the stems.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

Are you sure someone didn't sneak something else in there? Confused

Well Daisyl, you are amazing! I tip my hat to you. I just checked the date/time stamp on the photos. And you are correct! Probably no surprise to anyone, especially someone who has read and benefited from your ID's as I have! Ironically, the photos above were taking 9/21 and 10/21 at different times and one of those days was a weekday/workday and the other a work at home day/Saturday. I will be more careful in the future! But good to know about that other bamboo as well as I am propagating some of that as well. From the stand/grove where I obtained it, I was pretty certain it was a clumper, hence my lack of help/ID's for others who post in the Plant ID forum since I can't be relied upon! Sighing!
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

Rolling on the floor laughing You are doing great. I lived my whole life in your area (before the retirement move to Reno) so all your plants have been in one of my yards at one time or another. I'm enjoying the visit 'home' and hope you keep on posting. Thank You!
