This little tree or shrub (currently about 2' tall) is growing in my daughter's yard in northern Virginia (zone 7a).
We would like to know what it is so she can decide whether to keep it.

This bud is at the very top of the plant.

Wisteria?

I believe it is Fraxinus pennsylvanica.

My first thought was an Ash.

Thanks for the quick ID! It does look like an Ash, and probably Fraxinus pennsylvanica.
I will try to relocate it to a more suitable area.
