"not from the seed rack" sounds so cool! and that's why I joined. but i took it to heart, because the best seeds I've ever grown have been those that have been passed on from things that grew true from seed from other's gardens. So I'm holding to that idea.

Here are some seeds that my sister-dear bought for me from Butchart Gardens this summer. I'm not going to use them. All are lovely (I've grown them all at one time or another)
To win:
answer the question:
the most beautiful autumn tree:
the only living survivor of its botanical division?

Have you ever read your own post and realized that you sounded like an idiot?

What I meant to say was that I'm offering the 'seed rack' because I didn't want to swap them. . . . in the spirit of the swap.

Ginkgo biloba, the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. I learned something new!

bellaluna, that was very nice and that "blue poppy" seed pack is so pretty! Smiling

I grew my Ginkgo tree from seed about 15 years ago. It's been moved twice and my dog chewed it to the ground once, so it survived some abuse. It looks more like a Ginkgo shrub than a tree because that dog mauling caused it to send up multiple trunks. The leaves are beautiful in autumn and the local college is the only other place in this area that has one, or so I was told. I was told that one was planted in the 1940's, and it is huge. Luckily, mine turned out to be male, so no mess. Lovey dubby

Ginkgo, it is!

Congratulations, KelliW. You are the winner. But, did I read that right? You want to pass your seeds on to ishare flowers?

Lisa: if you send me a treemail with your address, I will get your seeds off to you this week.

Alana: you're a woman after my heart to keep that tree going. I think multiple trunks sounds pretty cool! I've heard that there are no gingko forests in the world; wouldn't it be something to be standing in one this time of the year if there were?

I'm going to be offering some fresh gingko seeds for swap when I get them cleaned. It's a nasty job, but someone's got to do it.

I would love to win too, but I didn't give the full answer if that's what you were looking for! I'm just happy to be able to participate in the swap! Hilarious!
