Strange thing happened. One of my Zz stems was a bit loose. So I moved it around a little and then pulled it out. The cavity that was left was full of puss. As a man, I immediately squeezed the sides of the container like a pimple and sure enough the thing volcanoed at like an infected zit. I divided the plant and cleaned the yellow/white goo. None of the roots seemed rotted or impaired otherwise, so I reported everything. What the heck was that chaos?

Indeed! Did you happen to take any? It sounds like a rotten spot but I've never seen anything like that.

I wish I did..I was kind of freaked out and wanted to clean it up asap. I did notice there were tiny white heads. I'm not sure if it was part of the soil or had to due with the zit

I cannot stop laughing at the image. I am so sorry, but when you said the soil may have had white heads, Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing it was all over. nodding

It is definately a dilema I have never ever heard of before. Makes sense though.

I would remove the plants right away, and wash the roots well, and sprinkle cinnamon on what ever could have been in contact with the zit puss. If you have cinnamon or a fungicide, you may be using it to help the roots fight off any rot. I would put the empty pot and all the dirt in a plastic bag, tie it and throw it away. Then, before I planted it, I would try and get advice on what to do next from some experts on here, as I just have guesses at this point. I hope others will show up soon. I don't know what it means to be summoned to this "plant acne" issue but I wish I had some info to share. I'm sorry, I have no idea what might cause this or what to do about it. Best luck to what sounds like a teenage ZZ plant!

I think it is more instructive to remember that this is a plant and not a person.

Something had infected or damaged that one stem or perhaps some roots. The liquid substance you observed was dying plant tissue. Can't tell from your description how extensive it was. Overwatering is the most likely culprit.

When you repotted, I hope you used a very porous potting mix and a small pot.
