I recently switched and got a Macintosh laptop to replace my old Windows computer. One thing I have really liked is how I can just click on the photos in the Photos program to upload here, and it does it automatically, and is even very quick about it. It seems great and is sooooo easy. However I hope it is not uploading JPEG files that are larger than wanted here. I am keeping my files in RAW format in my computer (except for cell phone photos) and this way I do not have to reformat them myself. Any computer savvy Apple owners out there who can reassure me (or not) or tell me how to have computer settings changed to resize them differently in the automatic function? I am OK but not great with computers, working hard to do better.

I have a MacBook Pro and although we've had only Mac's in our household since the very first Macintosh that ever came on the market, I'm old and technically challenged so I can't offer advice. I upload my pictures to garden.org and I'm assuming they are automatically sized to fit?

When I open a photo on my Mac and click on Tools (at the top of the screen), the following list pops up:

Show Inspector
Show Magnifier
Adjust Color
Adjust Size
Retangular Selection (which has a check mark by it)
Annotate
Rotate Left
Rotate Right
Flip Horizontal
Flip Vertical
Assign Profile

Although I've played with the Rotate, Flip and Annotate, I'm afraid to try to change the photo size in fear that I will mess up the settings and then not be able to get them back to where they were originally (which I've done numerous times and then I have to wait for my husband to fix it.) LOL, I've screwed up settings on my cell phone, camera and laptop so many times ... I find it's best for me to leave stuff alone. Smiling

No need to worry about photos being too big - Dave designed the site so that photos larger than a certain size (1000px on the longest dimension) are automatically resized. So if you can't easily crop/resize your photos before uploading, that's okay - the main impact is that uses a bit more of your upload quota and it will probably take longer to upload, depending on your Internet speed.
