Wow . . . are they working on the website or is it just high traffic at this time. I changed to my new computer which is much faster and man is it slow posting to anything and everything right now.

But the real question is, I don't want my photos to appear along the side of this forum. Is there any button I can push to keep it from doing that? I don't know Joshua's @ ID to call him here . . . I know he'd answer.

I didn't realize I hadn't posted any of my 2016 registered Iris. I guess I was always thinking daylilies since I have more of those.

Thanks for any help.

Teresa

All recent photos scroll along the side of the forum. If you put in photos, they will show up there. I don't believe there is any way to prevent that, but why does it bother you?

Hi Teresa,

My username is "Australis", so you can use that to get my attention when needed. I'm not quite sure I understand your question - you don't want your photos appearing in the photo pane to the right of the forum thread list?

As for the site performance, I can't say I've noticed any issues today - perhaps it is local to your area (is your ISP particularly busy at this time of day)?

Because I'm weird Hilarious! It takes other people's photos out of the way to be seen if I post a whole bunch of them. I just realized too that Sue and Kent were moderators here and could call them. But your answer is probably correct, because I didn't see anything like that to click a checkbox or something. Thanks for responding so quickly Karen.

Given how active the forum is, Teresa, your photos will be displaced by someone else's in a short time as well. So no need to worry about that. It just gives viewers readers a chance to see the most recent additions to the database.

Correct, I don't want my photos appearing in the photo pane to the right of the forum there here.

I'm not saying I mind that happening if I just have one or two photos to post, but I was going to try to fill in photos for all the ones I had registered. Not many, but I have front views and side views.

Thanks.

Teresa- the pictures posted to the right are new pictures posted to the database. They are there to show the forum the new database pictures of irises. I love them and they have influenced my wish list. They introduce people to iris they may never have seen. They inspire. They are enjoyed.

Honestly I believe the only way to keep your pictures from being posted there is to not post pics to the database. It would be difficult perhaps for Dave to program that only your photos not be shown? And it would be very sad to take away all the database pictures as they are enjoyed so much by members of the iris thread.

Well I have a D'Oh! Because when I went to the database and didn't find Fiber Optic Beard, I thought I hadn't posted any of my registered Iris. I agree with you 100% as those photos always tend to inspire me too and then I add to my wish list. But I was mostly concerned if I started posting all mine tonight in a row, then somebody else's might get bumped out-down without being seen much, if you know what I mean. I thought I was going to be posting like 10-12 photos.

Oh well . . . all is well except the slowness I'm having here. I checked my internet connection and it say 72 Mbps and when I looked that up the internet said it's good. I only have 2 other users I see on Wi-Fi connected. It's taking 30 seconds to a minute, and sometimes more, for me to go from page to page, or upload the posts or photos. I tried a couple other websites, and they seemed to move quickly, but they weren't forums like this.

I agree with Leslie. I would not see so many irises if they were not on the iris forum page. I do not take time to just browse photos and sometimes I do not look at all threads and if a photo was posted on a thread that usually does not get photos posted to it I would miss it entirely. During spring bloom season in the US so many are posted so quickly you have to look every hour or so to see new postings or go searching. I like giving thumbs there too. And when one comments on an iris posted on the iris forum page more people are likely to see it than if it were in the database only.

Teresa, never feel bad about loading your iris photos and bumping the others all down a lot. It will be lovely to have all your creations in the database. Hurray!

@grannysgarden oh Bonnie, that made be cry, but a sweet cry *Blush* Thank You!

And then I turned to laughing, because this is hilarious:
"An apple a day keeps the doctor away.... and everyone else if you throw it hard enough. " Rolling on the floor laughing

Well things are getting faster on my end for posting, going thread to thread, etc. But I've got work this morning, so had just quickly been checking in.

I agree with Bonnie - Don't feel bad about bumping photos. They all get bumped sooner or later. And we get to benefit from seeing even more iris pictures. Smiling

@DaveinPA I'm not sure about that. It's really slow again. Came in on quick break and it's still running very slow. I was trying to call things not as though they were, but it wasn't working. ~smile~ I still think Dave's working on the website. Every time he uploads a final file or change, in my opinion, that slows movement here at NGA because there's a lot of communication going on between servers.

Edited to say: But I see that my Mozilla Firefox browser is sucking 80% of my CPU, because I'm back on the old computer. But even last evening on the new computer, I was only using 20% CPU with everything i was running, and it was still *very slow* here
