Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Well not photo shopped. Guess I will go up to the house and ask them if its real. It is honestly in the persons yard and its purple. Thought its artificial but don't feel comfortable walking in the yard to touch it.

Please do go knock and ask! I wonder if someone spray painted or managed to dye it in some way. Very interesting and definitely eyecatching anyway! Please let us know what you find out!

I would love to know what it is too.
Its color reminds me of a Blue Baron Rhododendron I used to have:

It did not thrive on my zone 6b drought-prone hilltop, and eventually died.

Your Rhododendron was certainly a beautiful one, Carol. I will really be interested to see what that plant is. I'm still leaning toward a plant that died and got a dye job.

I had a neighbor who had an arborvitae that died. They spraypainted it a horrible green and left it like that for a long time.

Well then, purple is a much better choice.

Yes, I like that purple better, but it's still pretty odd in the landscaping!

I hate when people dye plants, dead or alive. And the trend of dyeing succulents in their edges, horrifying.

Actually, it is the correct color of purple for a jacaranda tree in bloom, but the wrong shape.

Yes Jacarandas are that colour but that looks like a spray painted conifer. Poor plant!

If it has been spray painted, they did a very thorough job of it. JB, let us know if you do any further investigation. It is clearly a focal point for the yard - good, bad, or ugly!

RpR, I hadn't even noticed the black flamingos! I had to go back to see them. I agree it was a very good job, Deb, if that is what they did. I hope he can find out about it.

Photoshopped, and done poorly. Clearly an AMATEUR.

Look at the background between the fronds. It's green, the only places the brick shows through are perfectly round with blurry edges....

We may have lost the original poster, Jbmitch, a new member who has thus far only posted twice (in this thread). He or she denies that the photo has been tampered with and intended to go talk with the property owner. Wait and see, I guess.
