I'm in love, velvet love! Lovey dubby Absolutely gorgeous, Lin!

How is this plant doing at tolerating summer heat? So many species Impatiens balk at our steamy southern summers.

Danita, thank you; I love the bloom on this particular Impatiens. I got the little plant last June from an on-line vendor and I didn't even realize it was was still around! We moved 3 weeks ago and before and after the move, it kinda got lost in the shuffle! My husband brought a trailer load of plants up about a week and a half before we actually moved and he crammed all of the containers onto the back patio and small screened porch. This little one, along with a few other smaller plants was sitting in the pot of a larger plant.

With unpacking and trying to get settled, plants took a back seat but I finally got my little garden wagon out a couple of days ago and moved plants to locations around the yard and then when I began to water everything, I happened to notice a couple of blooms peeking out and I knew immediately that it was this little Impatiens! It's leaning to one side seeking light, due to the fact that it was crammed together in tight quarters with others for a few weeks! It probably needs to be re-potted and trimmed back a bit. When I get around to doing that I'm going to try to root the cut stems.

I think I'll have to try this one. Do you remember which online vendor it was?

Yep, it was Steve's Leaves I've ordered from them twice now; plants are usually in 4" pots but I've been extremely pleased at the health of their plants, packaging, etc. and for sure will be ordering again! Here's the link for the Impatiens morsei at their on-line store: https://stevesleaves.com/store...

edited to say: I've been thinking about ordering the Congo Cockatoo (Impatiens niamniamensis) because I loved the looks of that one when I saw photos in our database! Smiling

Thanks for the info, Lin! I've been wondering about that company since they have some lovely looking plants for sale.

Impatiens niamniamensis is adorable. nodding There is a variegated version, too.
