Hello,
I am responsible for some of the new members and their posts. They are students of mine whom I am encouraging in an interest in botany.

Please feel free to give them feedback on how to take better photos and how to ask about the ID of a plant.

I hope that this is acceptable, and thank you for helping encourage them!

Welcome, lots of wonderful members trying to help with ID's here! Taking several photos, from a distance, detail closeups, both of leaves, stems, blooms ext., really helps.

One post someone asked for an ID and the next post was someone replying "Your mom". We do get spammers here so I deleted it as it was not relevant to the question, that was before I saw this thread. Probably one of your students. Shrug!

Yes, it was. Please feel free to delete those types of posts and ban their account. As always with juveniles, we have some jokers.

So the whole classroom is banned because of a couple questionable (but largely inoffensive) posts? Seems rather harsh to me. But, your site.

Ah, there is often more to the story than initially meets the eye... I likely didn't see them all, I was out of town for a couple days. The two I did see where inappropriate and rude, but otherwise pretty tame. Sounds like the teacher's concept was good (expose her class to a plant related social media), but the execution could have been better handled (closer monitoring of the students' posts).

Glad to see the whole class is not blocked. There are some new posts, so either the teacher reassured Dave, or he just blocked the offenders. The more gardeners we create, the better off our planet will be IMHO.
