Next Spring, my shoulders will be well enough to start removing all the grass that crept in while I used what strength I had, maintaining an income. I am sorry to say, for the first time in my garden, I had considerable rot. In the front - southwest, it is the color of sandstone and doesn't smell. In the back - northeast, it is slimier brown and I found a fat grub in one. I cut off bad parts and moved them to a place no iris have lived - south east. I am going to have to spray Serenade periodically and probably not get anything new until all problems have stopped.

Good plan, Linnea. I am making plans to move some into dedicated iris beds.

I have to completely remove everything from 3 beds and then replant due to sheep sorrel taking over. I can't seem to get rid of it as its spreads via rhizome, and seeds. Pulling it is impossible. I will be having lots of Tommy Boxes I'm guessing, as I have to reduce some inventory to make room for any new ones I get.

I will be moving a lot in order to make taking care of them easier. If i can get them into dedicated iris beds it will be easier to give them the same watering and feeding while i weed. I should be able to add a few more Big Grin without adding to my chores. Any way to justify adding a few more while i can still see weeds from my window....... Whistling And the sheep sorrel is bad here too, Tom. How did it get up into a planted wheel barrow???

Bonnie, I am guessing the same way the clover and dollar plants find themselves in an elevated dwarf ring. So annoying.

Every year I have loads of clover, vetch, assorted grasses, with sorrel in some areas. It can easily become overwhelming if there is a month of snow, since it is impossible to work on them then, but somehow they seem to grow in the cold weather quite well.

The same goes for when there is rain. The weeds just keep growing until the heat of summer, then really difficult to remove, but I am sure most of you are going through the same thing, well maybe some of you use chemical weed killers.
