I've reported both of them. It sounds like two juveniles to me, or possibly the same person who signed up under two different usernames?

Yesterday a teacher in Texas had his students join. A few were fine, but most seemed to be high spirited boys with no interest in botany. Many of them have been suspended. I'm sure admin is watching.

Yes, these were part of the Fort Worth group of students. I'm sure it was meant in jest, as teenagers will do, so I just scrolled past.

Looks like there are two people who are 'like-minded' (or should I say mindless) because they each made the same post on different threads. Hope they either grow up or get with the program. They sure deserve a failing grade if this was a school assignment monitored by their teacher.

So the original question asking for an ID was a joke too? And there was I thinking the OP might have been put off NGA. We had something exactly like this happen a few weeks ago and the original poster was legitimate so only the offending post was removed.

On another thread posted by the instructor...Dave took care of the problem.

I didn't say or imply that the posted question was a joke. I said I got a chuckle out of the childish response, which I did. It seemed pretty easy to just move on with no further action (by me) needed. My apology if my sense of humor offends you.

I had read the teacher's intro., so wasn't too surprised. Teacher didn't mention age group, but I'm guessing early teens. This probably is of no interest to many of that age group, but the better students did make an effort to comply. There are always some disruptive ones in any class, and I don't envy teachers that have to deal with it. Who knows, some of these kids may end up as regulars on the site at some point. In reference to the post mentioned here...there are lots of people that don't know the difference between a tree and a grass....and Lord knows they won't pick up a book. Sadly, this is the world we live in now.

Not sure why you would think I was offended, certainly no apology needed. As I said, I was concerned that a legitimate OP might be put off by such a response but putting two and two together now, since the original post was removed along with the more obviously facetious one, I figured in hindsight that the original one was a joke too. Otherwise it would have been left in and only the second post removed. In fact the whole thread is now gone including a seriously given answer by someone else as to the plant's possible ID. This conclusion had nothing to do with what you posted, I was merely trying to explain myself.

Oh my, the ways we can get tangled up! I think perhaps the teacher was the original poster and when she found her student had responded inappropriately, perhaps Dave just deleted the whole thread as a classroom experiment gone bad. I then thought you were being overly sensitive to my chuckle, when in fact you saw that the whole thread had been cleared (which I didn't catch). So easy to misconstrue things online. No ruffled feathers on my part, hopefully not on yours either! Still chuckling...now at myself.

All I can say is those 2 students would have been in my class if I were still teaching. My first career (if not counting working for my parents) was teaching the 'bad' kids. I loved those little troublemakers.

I was never a teacher but my thought is that those two students should be out digging in the dirt, rather than being on the internet.

My two boys had their fair share of troublemaker friends. Heck, I am not disillusioned that my kids may have BEEN the troublemakers, particularly in other people's worlds... I have found, though, that the troublemakers often have a heart of gold. Listen, listen, listen.

A bit off topic, but important.

I didn't see the message from their teacher but it was certainly ill advised to have students logon to a website such as this.
