Occasionally, I find the need to correct the initial identity of a plant in my personal list. I have incorrectly ID'd the plant and on further research realize my error, in which case not only do I need to correct My List, but I also need to request a move of any photos I may have uploaded. The photo move is straight forward. It seems that I am unable to change the plant entry to the correct name, but instead must delete the incorrect entry and add the correct one. I use the comment section of My List as a mini-database for myself, noting when I purchased the plant, the source, where it is sited, when it blooms, and other pertinent information specific to my gardens. I obviously lose this comment when I delete the incorrect entry. Can I somehow just change the plant ID and retain all that info? Or, can I cut and paste the comment info from the incorrect entry to the correct entry? Seems I have had to re-enter everything manually. It doesn't happen often so not a problem, just wondering if I might be missing a simpler way to correct the error.

I don't know why this isn't working for you, since the system supports that just fine. You edit the plant entry and find the new plant name.

But I don't think copy and paste works reliably. You have to erase the plant name field and start typing the new plant name. As you type, the system will start searching for matches, then you pick the one you want.

I can't figure out how to erase the plant name field -- do I start within My List? I open the Edit option, but don't see how to edit the name. I thought I'd try to change My List entry of Abies grandis to Abies atlantica, and then change it back as a trial. Can you kind of walk me through the steps?

On a whole 'nother issue - when I open My List, why does Japanese Blood Grass show up as the first entry? It should be down the list under Imperata.

Ok, I see now. You can't change an entry from one database plant to another. Fixing that will go on m TODO.

Your Japanese Blood Grass probably has a space in front of its name.

You can do it by first unlinking the plant from the database, then changing the name and saving the change, then linking it to the database again. A little cumbersome, but it seemed to work when I tried it.

Fnd the plant in your plant list and click the 2nd icon from the top on the left-hand side of the page (it looks like a striped cylinder). Choose "unlink this plant from the database."

Return to your "lists management area" and find the plant - it should be near the top of your list. Click the top icon on the left-hand side of the page to edit your entry and change it to whatever you want. Save your changes, then go back to the plant and click on the 2nd icon again, select the plant name from the database that it matches, and choose to link the plant to the database. Now it should be back in your list in the appropriate place, with all of the info that you had originally entered.

That sounds like a good work-around, Weed, thanks. I never even knew what that cylinder was, as I've only ever used two of the five 'action' keys (edit and delete).
