I've committed to going to the APS convention this year! Can't purchase tickets yet on their website but I reserved my room at the conference hotel...anyone else going for sure? I plan to visit as many gardens and growers as possible while up there, both peony and iris, and will probably make a side trip up to Washington for the same.

The conference is 24-27 May, hotel is the University Place Hotel and Conference Center in Portland OR. I'll probably drive since I want to do so many side trips and to visit Washington state but I haven't decided for sure yet. It's actually a very pretty drive, my husband, daughter and I've done it before....just not sure I want to do it by myself! I guess I could fly out and get a rental for the sidetrips, just have to see how much of a planning nightmare that would be.

Liz, I was just wondering whether you were planning to haul any new plants back. Smiling Smiling Smiling

Plan, no— but I didn't plan on bringing that many back last time! If the opportunity is there and it's good I'm sure I'll take advantage of it!

There will be many peonies on sale at Adelman and Brooks at that time.

There are "seasoned professionals" at getting stuff on planes at the convention. Hilarious! I have heard all about the tales from the last goers of the convention when it was out there last time. Though, Liz, yes, the road trip is great... but if you end up flying, you'll have all sorts of experienced air traveler- plant-addicts helping you get your plants home. You just have to ask the right people.

Oregon is beautiful! If I was a plant, I'd want to be planted there *Blush*

I was thinking if I went (driving is not an option) I would buy stuff in pots and simply dump the pots, and bag the roots with damp peat moss. Bring extra luggage. Thumbs up

When there is a will, there's a way. And with Peony addicts like us there's ALWAYS a will.......
