Know little to nothing about plants so was wondering why this plant (outdoors) is losing leaves which are drying out and turning white. See picture.

Is it an evergreen ???
White could be mildew or mites .
Is it getting enough water ?
Pic of whole plant would be helpfull.
Close up of a leaf, also.

Philip,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have no idea what kind of tree it is but here are some more pictures anyway.

Thanks again,
Peter

I think its going dormant. How long have you owned this tree? How big are the leaves? It reminds me of a Saucer or Star Magnolia.

Thank you both for taking the time to answer. We just moved into the house a few months ago so I don't know how old the plant is or what to expect from it. It's amazing how clueless I am, so very much appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving Smiling

I agree with Daisy on the ID. Here is what you can expect when it wakes up in a few months..
