Hi Garden Experts,

I was given this HUGE umbrella tree. It is very overgrown. I would love to braid it somehow but honestly have no idea where to begin or how to make it look reasonable. It is just a huge huge plant and my apartment is small! The pictures show how large it is (puppy for reference). The braided pictures is what I would like it to look like but I want to know if it's possible.

No, there's no making it look like your sample at this point in its life. They are braided like that while the trunks are young and pliable. You can give it a good pruning though.

Just remember that it will regrow at the leaf nodes just below where you cut.
