Here are my plans for my elevated beds. Plans are for a single bed but you can chain them together like I did for my 2018 garden layout. (If you plan on using just a single, stand alone bed, you will need to add 2 more 2 x 4 x 12" legs at the middle and move the middle 30" legs to the other end)

We're planning on doing something for elevated garden beds next summer, but I need to deer proof them - a nice big fence around the outside with a door might work Whistling Whistling

Well, here's my newest layout of my garden plot. Decided to build a 36" high fence around the perimeter of the plot. Wife is asking about the costs now. Rolling my eyes. Told her by the time I mix all the soil, install the drip irrigation, and purchase the building materials it will be in the neighborhood of apx $1,000. Shrug! Better stop designing stuff for now and get it all built. I can't wait to get it all finished.

Since I am the woman in the family...oh, that's right, there is no man any more, I can decide what to build and what to spend. I like to purchase the lumber at 75% off at Home Depot's cull lumber. Visit there often enough, and eventually, there is enough wood to finish a project. Patience and persistence is required.

Then there is the handy-dandy roadside, where folks chuck stuff out for trash day. Some is new lumber 'leftovers' from construction. It's free.

The soil mix? That's a bit tricky. Of course, I do make my own compost, but again, being the sole occupant, I don't produce enough veggie waste to make much compost. I buy the broken bags at Home Depot and Lowe's, potting mix, top soil (which in my area is mostly pine fines), manure, etc. Mix it all together, add a touch of lime and, there you are, one full raised bed ready to plant.

If I ever added up the total cost, I would most likely drop dead on the spot. Buy (or finding) the stuff a little at a time, saves wear and tear on the heart and the wallet.
Yes, I am part Scottish and very thrifty. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
