The only tag in the planter said Clematis 'Sichuan Sunshine' but this doesn't look any thing like the one picture available. It does have the pods I highlighted that do look like the picture.

I used the number at the top of the plant tag in a Google Image search and found this one:
Clematis hexapetala var. hexapetala

What color were the blooms on your plant?

Edited to correct spelling.
Sunset Zone 28, AHS Heat Zone 9, USDA zone 8b~"Leaf of Faith"

Sorry but I am confused.

That looks a professional plant label...there is nothing to indicate this is not Clematis 'Sichuan Sunshine'.
The numbers at the top 20150730 are someones record for this plant.
Probably on their computer data base.
Without access to this persons data base no amount of Google searches will reveal anything helpful.

It may well have had yellow flowers.
The multiheaded stuff in your images are the seed heads for a Clematis.
The brown bits you have circled in red look like wilted/dead buds.

The buds were yellow earlier in the year.
