I have been looking for a large Christmas tree like shaped plant for my garden and ran across this today while driving. It's just what I want but I have no idea what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is about 6 or 7 ft tall. The foliage had a feathery look and was relatively soft, not spikey like juniper. I included a closeup of the foliage. I'm in zone 8b, Huntsville

Well, it kind of reminds me of Arizona Cypress?

Isn't native to Huntsville, it was planted. Not a cedar, but what did it smell like. Not a spruce. By the way, most of those are shaped that way because they came from a place that trimmed them to be that way. Google the area and see if there are any Christmas tree farms in the area.
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

logies1 has not indicated that it was native. Was this thread moved and originally in the Texas thread?

The picture is similar to the Arizona cypress 'Blue Ice' and would do fine in zone 8b. There are some growing in Austin Tx.
