Notes from Gardens Collections Officer, Donna Thomas, at Ballarat Botanic Gardens in the state of Victoria, yesterday, identified both these trees from my earlier photograph. I've added Swamp Cypress to the common names in Plants Database since this is how she had identified its common name with Taxodium distichum. http://www.winterhill.com.au/t... also advertises under this name so perhaps this is the common Australian reference.

A little history from Donna re both these trees in the photograph:
The Pin Oak was planted in 1947, for Queen (then Princess) Elizabeth's 21st birthday.

The other, Swamp Cypress, also a Victorian Heritage listed tree.
If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.
