I don't grow a lot of these, so I'm looking for suggestions. Also it is a good excuse, for those that do grow a lot of these, to post some pics.

Of course we always want our iris to have a lot of blooms, but I feel it is extra important when it comes to the little ones as the individual flowers are much smaller and they don't have so many buds.

I only grown this one a year, but it seemed very floriferous for a newly planted rhizome:

I've just started collecting them as well so will be watching the replies you get as well! My only one so far is Baby Blessed although I added several after bloom season this year and have ordered more for next summer, too.

I have a lot of new SDBs which haven't bloomed yet, but of my established ones, these are standouts for growth as well as bloom:

Free flowering and beautiful too! 'Hocus Pocus' is especially nice. Considering the name, one perhaps could even go so far as to say it looks a little bit magical. Smiling

I haven't had many MDB's bloom, but one that produced a lot of blooms for me was Black Olive. It also is a rebloomer!

Thank you, Leslie.
I did plant one of the parents to Black Olive this year, Wish upon a Star, so now I'm hoping that it perhaps can produce a lot of blooms as well. Hurray!

Tom, I'm looking forward to after Christmas. Smiling

Jan, Little Stitches, seems like a super iris. I didn't actually think of rebloom potential when I started this thread, but I should have. Your post has made me very interested in rebloom in this group. I wonder if smaller iris would be quicker to rebloom than TBs? If so they might be a much better match for my climate.

It is a beauty, Robin and that fantastic clump photo in fact made me buy it in 2016. It has grown very well here too, so perhaps I will be able to see it in bloom come spring. Lovey dubby I'm very curious how the colder climate here will affect both the number of blooms and the colour.

I'm most happy to grow it either way, however I was under the impression it is an Intermediate Bearded (IB)? Smiling

I do grow a little SDB named Blue Neon, Robin and William. Smiling

I got really excited to see this thread and started thinking about all the little guys i can share stories about and then thinking about it some more I calmed down a bit. Of the almost 650 named varieties of the little irises I grow there are so many that i need to put a good word in for. I will have to give a little thought to my irises growing/blooming habits as I do not want to leave a little champion off the 'winners list' of most floriferous and favorite ones. Smiling

I will start with one little MDB that has never missed a spring or fall bloom. It is MDB Trimmed Velvet. It has not been the best increaser but for reliability and beauty it is a very special little iris.

Not the best photos but.....

Thumb of 2017-12-23/grannysgarden/0c5fea Thumb of 2017-12-23/grannysgarden/75845c

Unlike most MDB's it has multiple bloom stalks and double sockets. It has good sized velvety blooms. The color is rich so i would have to put it on the champion list.

(now I return to my Christmas baking. More to come on this thread later Smiling )

Another little MDB that is very special to me is Blue Doll. It is a true bearded iris and yet so tiny. Here is a side view...

Thumb of 2017-12-24/grannysgarden/d1c119

and a view with my hand in the pic so you can see how diminutive it is.
Thumb of 2017-12-24/grannysgarden/329ccb

This view is from the side and using a quarter for height comparison you can see that the stalk is as tall as the bloom is tall.

Thumb of 2017-12-24/grannysgarden/aaf76e

This little iris will always have to be grown in a pot here as it would get lost in the garden. Smiling

This was a new one for me this year. I had seen a photo of it and really wanted to grow it. The hybridizer had moved and lost it and i could not find anyone else that was growing it. Finally a lady in OK that tends a public garden there listed it among the plants she personally tends. I contacted her and waited a year for the bloom cycle to run its course and then received a couple of healthy rhizomes. It has increased over the summer. It is MDB Aaah.

Many of the tiniest irises do not have ruffles. This one does. The color is gorgeous. It is a pale blue with pale lime green edging. It does well in warmer climates. Thumbs up

I will have to say my favorites are not always the most floriferous. But the ones I have that bloom their socks off almost always start life in Tom's garden (tvguy). I don't know what he does but all of those that have come to me in Tommy boxes just grow and bloom like crazy. Maybe I should send all my dwarfs to Wisconsin first.....

I think they are so happy to get out of this cold climate that they work hard to please. Hilarious!

I think every one that Bonnie has shared with me has done well here, but Enchanted Princess seems to grow like a weed here.
