I throw food into my yard all the time.

Gosh, that makes me sound crazy. But the birds appreciate it...I think.

heatheradams,
Why not give us a fighting chance? Where did you find/obtain/collect the seeds? when? from which plant? did you take photos of the plant? etc. etc. etc.

I love, love, love your avatar!! Lovey dubby Some folks are not so happy with deer in the garden, but deer make me happy even if they come to have a snack. When it comes to deer, "Mi casa es tu casa y mi jardín es tu jardín". Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up

There is not enough info here to ID a seed. Does the seed have any odor? Was it found near trees? Is it really hard or does it have a softer texture, have you noticed any in the area sprouting, if so what do they look like ect.

But I'll go out on a limb here and say that since you found the seed in OK it is not deseriable Hilarious!

It's a Hackberry, probably Common Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis) although there are some other species in the southern Plains that I'm not very familiar with so it could be one of those.

I found them in an old box of seashells in my grandparent's garage in Kansas. I cracked one open and it was still (I assume) alive. This is my first time on this site. Still figuring it all out. ;)

How fun is that? No telling how long they've been in that box. You need to plant those seeds! Keep us posted...

Some will likely sprout. I've sprouted radish and zinnia seeds which were 40+ years old (older than me).
