It could be a variety of Dhalia; photos from our database for comparison:

Wouldn't the outer disc florets be more prominent on a dahlia, or is it just that they aren't fully developed yet in the ID flower?

I think a pic of the back of the flower showing the green calyx would be telling....

Since you found it online, how do you also know it is not altered?

I think it's a dahlia, too.

Since it is not your own photo, please post a link to the image rather than posting the image itself. That way you are not breaking any copyright issues.

I'm visualizing all of you running around to the back of your monitors to look at the calyx of the flower. Rolling on the floor laughing

I don't think its a Dahlia but I don't have any other thoughts. There's something not quite right about how the petals attach and the center is wrong.

Maybe there are some hints here:

I think it's a dahlia from the Bishop series, possibly Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff', just not fully developed yet. Single Dahlia (Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff')
It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

Good sleuthing Daisy! Looking at her CV she is in British Columbia, so TWU would be Trinity Western University. Edit - I found some pictures of the electronic sign at the entrance where the flower was supposed to be but only saw one with daffodils, one with snapdragons, and one with some unidentifiable red flowers that might be it but too distant and fuzzy to tell.

There are no copyright issues when the purpose is included under fair use doctrine, which this is. Don't scare people needlessly.

@luvsgrtdanes is right. It is a dahlia and most likely either the Bishop of Llandaff or one of the "Bishop's Children".

But he thus far has failed to provide a link to give credit to the original photographer.

Many folks here on this site get all bent out of shape when their photos from the database are appropriated and end up all over the internet. All I am saying is that, if someone does not own the photo, please give the name of the photographer if known, and/or the link to the place the image was found. I would expect that everyone here would want the same for their own images. Thumbs up

The sleuthing wasn't too hard - I did an image search. This photo has been reposted so many times on Pinterest that Melissa Alvaro could be a millionaire is she were getting royalties.

I think most people here get bent out of shape because someone uses their photo to fraudulently advertise/sell items, or use the photo claiming it is their own photo. Most reasonable people have no issue with someone saying 'this isn't my photo but I am wondering what this is'. There is a huge difference to me.
