Happy New Year! Those who have planned to buy some rarities from Solaris, may have to act fast. Some are already sold out, e.g. Sonoma Yedo and Halo. I failed to get'em.

I noticed that some in the sold out section say 'a few left for domestic buyers only.' Perhaps a nod to Solaris' domestic following who get beaten out by the volume buyers.

I was lucky enough to snatch Brassy Lady and Duchesse de Morny TPs before they are sold out for the year. I had been watching Brassy Lady for awhile but they were all sold out from previous years before I could have a chance. Finally had a chance this year.

It gets sold out really fast even now. I think Solaris has been offering it for awhile but it was not available last year. I would have thought that it would last for a week but did not want to take any chances. Anyway, it is sold out like within an hour today?

I agree Anya, shipping has increased so much over the last few years. I paid only $17 for shipping for 9 peonies back in 2012 from Solaris Farms. And the government says we have low inflation. THis year it cost me $18 for only two peonies.

I think the trend today is keep the price of the plants unrealistically low and make up the difference with shipping and handling charges. There is no way I can see making a profit off $12-$15 peonies which were grown on very expensive land and handled several times between the field and shipping box. I have no idea of the worth of good Oregon farm land but top-quality farm land to raise corn and beans here in Illinois approaches $15,000 per acre.
