So, I came home from work about an hour ago, and Larry was getting ready to start chopping veg for beef stew. I went to turn on the oven, and nothing.

Oh great. So, I got down on the floor and looked into the broiler while turning it on. The automatic igniter was glowing bright red, but no flame in the broiler. Sad

The burners all work fine, but there's no gas getting to the oven/broiler. So much for that beef stew for dinner. Not to mention the cheesecakes I was supposed to bake. Grumbling Now we have to go out and buy a new range. Thumbs down

Could you get an estimate on fixing it first, Rick? Sometimes it's a simple problem to fix and won't be expensive.

Yeah, we were talking it over and will probably try getting it fixed first. Although, I did find a really nice one online that I liked. It's only $2,000.00 Only. Rolling on the floor laughing

We had beef tenderloin and smashed potatoes for New Year's Eve dinner. The tenderloin was crusted with rosemary and fennel and had a Dijon fraiche sauce for topping/dipping. Yummmmm... Then last night I made the spicy Italian sausage drunken noodles that I liked so much the first time I made it. Just ate the leftovers for lunch Big Grin

I made my usual New Years dinner. I scored, rubbed, braised, and roasted a 6.5# boneless pork loin. Later I added 8#s of sauerkraut and left it to brown a bit. I then turned to preparing my mashed potatoes using plenty of butter, half/half, and half a pound of cream cheese. When finished I had enough pork for 1 sandwich and some sauerkraut left. Hilarious! I have no doubt they liked it.

Pork has always been a New Years tradition, I did however forget my bayberry candle. Sad

Well, the oven is fixed. The repairman said that the oven 'eventually' lot for him after about 2 minutes. Yeah, like I'm going to stand there for 2 minutes waiting for the gas to come on. Don't think so! At any rate, he said that the igniter was about shot and wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway.

Just in case though, we hauled out the crock pot and made stew in that with the left over prime rib from Christmas. Mighty tasty on a bone chilling winter night! Drooling
