Several of the Forums I visit are putting up new continuation threads for 2018 and locking old threads. This is primarily being done by Moderators with little or no explanation. Is this an NGA new policy? I'm aware that Sandbox Forum is swept clean by @Dave and Trish but is this now to be generally applied?

No, the policy is to not have multi-part threads like that. A conversation should continue along on the same thread indefinitely.

The sandbox is the exception. In the sandbox, there are no rules about this and if they want to make a new thread for whatever reason, they are free to do so.

@Dave, Thanks for your quick response!

You mean no expiration dates or rush to get in the last word?!!!!! I think I'm liking this 'continued indefinitely'

A question on who you mean by "they" in your reply.....the OP of thread? The Moderator? Any NGA member?

Yeah, the "they" means anybody in the sandbox. We don't do anything with that forum except clean it out every so often. As far as I'm concerned people can post with no structure at all in that one forum.

Interesting. I had read several old timers saying that the sandbox threads were all deleted when the new year hit. That's why I started a new thread for What are You Reading? That's not true?

The "cleanup" did happen at the beginning of last year -- I'm also wondering if it's going to be a regular thing. I think the only reason it makes any difference is that people need to keep in mind that the Sandbox can get cleaned out and not to expect any photos that they post to be there "forever." It seemed to be more of an issue in the "pets" thread than elsewhere.
