Finally out of the deep freeze on the east coast! Hurray! Last Saturday got down to -12 at night. Today was in the 30s and it felt balmy in comparison. Irises are probably pretty happy though, because they have had 2 feet of snow protection. This weekend we are getting into the 50s, so odd. I'm hoping there is enough snow remaining to keep the plants from getting confused. I'll shovel more on the iris beds if I have to.

Liz ~ That sounds like an excellent idea! Most winter damage I have found in my gardens have been from vacillating temperatures. Especially after a snowstorm, and the sun comes out the next day, nice and warm, and then, BAM! a hard freeze after the warm up. If you have room in your freezer, you could save some of it...or at least shovel some onto the north side of the house, where it will take longer to melt.

We have a very heavy foggy drizzle here this morning. Colder weather is on the way though.

We have a cold rainy drizzle, mist & fog this morning. All schools are operating on a two-hour delay. Snow is beginning to melt away too! There are still some icy spots left over from the freezing rain last week.

Steady rain here again today. Maybe it will clear up later, at least according to the forecast. High 46°, Low 39°.

It's cool and humid here today, and solidly overcast. The bridge looked damp this morning so it must have rained late last night or early this morning.

Warp and I had a good walk on a local urban trail (which parallels a creek so it is something of a greenbelt, with a paved trail through it). (This cool overcast weather is good walking weather, and that particular stretch of trail is not something that we do in the warmer months - despite trees on both sides it is still mostly exposed and gets too warm! Sticking tongue out ) On the drive back home, there were a few sprinkles on the car windshield (I had to look twice), but nothing since.

It finally stopped raining here, late this afternoon. Still it was mostly cloudy for the rest of the day. I wouldn't mind a few days dry out until the next storm. We will see what happens. The people on the coast of California near Santa Barbara were not so lucky. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

It's 44 this morning, feels like spring outside, but rain on the way later. Then freezing rain tonight.

Partly cloudy, partly sunny, forecast for 62 F, just a titch warmer than yesterday. No rain forecast, but that's good because the plumbers are back, today and tomorrow, to fix our problems at one end of the house (hopefully for good Crossing Fingers! ). They will be going in and out of the back door, and so it's good that they won't get rained on.

Lilli ~ Do you have a boat in your garage? How many feet of water now?

Currently above 60 degrees here in Kentucky but the temp will drop down to freezing by tomorrow with 2-4 inches of snow expected by evening. Huge change for sure.

Big Grin Evelyn!

No boat! Fortunately, we live on top of a hill next to a depression in the landscape containing a lake. The lake is pretty full, but is connected to the ocean through a large underground pipe, so it will never reach our house or the rest of the neighbourhood for that matter. That said, I am really tired of mud! Thumbs down

Today it is not raining! Hurray!
Had a nice long walk with Cuddles earlier without getting wet. It was dark, cold, gloomy and windy, but no rain! Thumbs up
Of course Cuddles was covered in mud from running in puddles and rolling on the grass, but the wind dried it out so I could easily brush off most of it when we got home. Small mercies... Big Grin
You don't know if it will grow until you try!
