Your lovely plant is a variety of Arrowhead Plant (Syngonium podophyllum) It's in the same family as Philodendron and yes, they do very well in hanging baskets!
It's considered a pest plant here in Florida where it will take over, trailing and climbing over other plants and up into the trees!
