It's highly unlikely. Avocados are tropical and won't tolerate freezing temperatures. They also need a long growing season.

There are people growing avocados in Oregon but I think they are along the coast. Klamath Falls is probably too cold, even for the Mexican varieties that can take temperatures down to about 25 once mature.

Daisy is correct. I've been looking at the climate zones (Sunset Western Gardens) and while west of the I oo5 the zones range from 4 to 7, most of eastern Oregon is zone 1A, with winter lows averaging from 11F to 0 F and extremes of -25 to -50. You can grow any number of tropicals ...as houseplants, but would they grow well without a climate controlled greenhouse...no. Sure is some pretty country though.

Hi, Sorry, but avocados won't do well outdoors where you are. But, if you can provide space indoors, with a good grow-light, you can grow avocados where you are.

I grew up in the SF Bay Area and am back there now - but - I lived in WA from the OR border to the Canadian border for about 20 years, as well as living on the far north coast of CA on the OR border, so I do understand your climate.

It's amazing what you can grow indoors with the right lights. Ironically, you can learn a lot on indoor growing by watching youtube videos - by pot growers LOL. You might not be interested in growing pot, and I'm not either, but those guys REALLY know successful indoor gardening.

What I've done before to grow indoor tomatoes, is to get a shop light with T-8 "daylight" bulbs. I like the GE ones. You can find them from Lowe's, etc.
