Money tree is sick, can you help? I left him with friends, it was always nice and green. It is 10 years old and looks bad now

Please post a photo that shows the entire plant, including its pot. What caused to wound on the lower stem? Is that a dying Bromeliad sharing its pot?

Thank you for your kind attention Here are more pics. I left the painted board , maybe some paint went on the plant ?
Yes there is that bromelia almist on his roots.

I'm thinking she needs a larger pot, or at least a re pot. And some fresh soil. Roots are probably grown through drain holes.
Looks like you cut her off, at some point. Why was that.
