Here is my second pallet flag that I have ever painted. I made my girlfriend a different one with 8 stars for Christmas. I made this one for me but decided to donate it to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Telethon at the end of this month. They do this fund raiser every year to give to heart and cancer research. This is our second year as members of the club and love it. I want to make myself one just like it, and another girlfriend wants me to paint one for her. She is going to supply the pallet for hers. Now I just have to find another pallet for myself. Any ideas where I could find some wood pallets??

Has anyone else ever painted any pallet flags? I'd love to see what you painted.

Thanks Karen. I have been noticing pallet flags in people's yards when I am traveling. This pattern I saw on the internet. It was a barn quilt pattern and I wanted to see if I could do it on a wood pallet. I am so happy with how it turned out.

It turned out very well, Jeanne. I think a lot of the quilt patterns would probably lend themselves to pallet art.

I agree. I may have to look into that and see if I can find one that wouldn't be too difficult.

That is absolutely beautiful Jeanne!

As to where to find pallets - you might check with Lowes, Home Depot, lumber yards, anyplace that uses them and gets new ones all the time.

Thanks Vic. I am glad that you liked it. I will check out some lumber yards in my area. I am an hour from Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards. Thanks for the help. I hope to get a few more done before Spring plus my other projects I want to do before it's time to be outside.

Thanks, Lin and Karen. I googled something like American flag barn quilts and found quite a few I wouldn't mind trying. Now to get a hold of some pallets. Glad we have the same name sort of, Lin. My mother always said it was the French spelling for "Jeannnn".LOL Rolling on the floor laughing

When my DH's family barn got sided with tin siding, I got some of the hay loft doors. I am going to put a different barn quilt flag on one of them. I can't wait to get it started. The one I have here in the garage is rickety so DH has to beef it up a little for me. That could take a while. Sighing!

I finished the hay loft barn door flag that I was working on. All I have left to do is seal it. DH and I went to town and picked up 4 new pallets. The feed store can't send them back so they store them inside and give them away. I started my next flag on one of them. I got the pattern drawn on it so now I will start painting it tomorrow. There will be a lot of taping to do before I start painting.

Here are the before and after pics of the hay loft door.

After they're painted, do you seal them with anything? Forgive me if you've already mentioned this.

I spray them with an exterior Spar Urethane made by Rust-Oleum. It is suppose to sea our water.

I have started my next one and have drawn a different flag on another one. So now as one is drying, I can start painting on another. I am working on them hot and heavy now cause when the weather warms up, all my time will be spent cleaning up my gardens and flower beds and then planting veggies.

This next one is the most time consuming. It requires a lot of measuring and a lot of taping. My girlfriend wants one like this one. I told her I could use some help when it is time to do some taping.

Last night I showed pictures of them to people and got offered $100 if I would make the 2nd one for them. Of course, I said I would.
